About the Game

What Is IGTAP?

IGTAP — short for Incremental Game That's Also a Platformer — is an innovative indie title that merges two beloved genres into one endlessly replayable experience.

You are the only one — a lone runner tasked with generating an extraordinary amount of electrical power in a strange, industrial world humming with voltage. Short platforming courses wind through neon-lit corridors and spike-filled chambers. Every run you complete earns Watts, the currency of progress. Spend those Watts on upgrades, clones, and new abilities that let you earn even more.

Developed by Varii @ PepperTangoGames, IGTAP was originally built for Pirate Software's Game Jam 17, where the theme was "only one." The concept: one character, one world, one goal — but infinite scaling potential. The game blends the satisfying number-go-up dopamine loop of incremental / clicker games with the kinetic thrill of precision platforming, light Metroidvania exploration, and even speedrunning depth.

Players quickly discovered that IGTAP rewards both passive idle strategies and active speedrun optimisation. Casual players can deploy a clone army and watch Watts pour in automatically. Hardcore players can shave milliseconds off each course run to amplify production multipliers — making IGTAP one of the most unique incremental platformer games available to play online today.

Core Features

Why IGTAP Stands Out as an Incremental Platformer

IGTAP isn't just another idle clicker — it demands skill, rewards optimisation, and keeps evolving the longer you play.

Power-Driven Incremental Loop

Every course run earns Watts. Spend Watts on upgrades that increase passive production. The incremental loop is tight and satisfying — IGTAP's core economy rewards both idle players and active grinders equally.

Clone Army Automation

Unlock clones that replay your best path with pixel-perfect precision. In IGTAP, your recorded runs become automated income — the better your route, the more Watts your clones generate passively.

Precision Platforming & Speedrunning

IGTAP features tight, responsive controls with coyote time, wall jumps, dashes, and advanced tech like dash-wall-jumps. Shaving seconds off your course time directly multiplies your Watt income — speedrunning pays off.

Metroidvania Exploration

The IGTAP world isn't just a series of isolated levels. New movement abilities unlock shortcuts and reveal hidden areas with secret bonuses — reward for curious explorers who wander off the beaten path.

Progressive Upgrade Tree

Upgrades in IGTAP aren't just stat boosts — many open entirely new gameplay possibilities. Jump upgrades, dash unlocks, and production multipliers each reshape how you interact with the platformer courses.

Controller & Keyboard Support

IGTAP plays great on both keyboard and gamepad. The incremental platformer experience is smooth regardless of your input device, making it accessible for casual and competitive players alike.

How to Play IGTAP – Step-by-Step Guide

New to incremental platformers? Here's everything you need to know to start generating massive Watt income in IGTAP.

01

Run the First Course

Move right, jump over obstacles, and reach the end of the first platformer course. Even a slow first run earns your starting Watts in IGTAP. Don't panic about spikes — checkpoints are frequent.

02

Spend Watts on Clones

After your first run, open the upgrade panel. Purchase your first clone — it will replay your best recorded path autonomously, passively generating Watts while you plan your next move.

03

Unlock Movement Abilities

Save up for the Dash and Double Jump upgrades early. These IGTAP movement abilities don't just help you move faster — they open entirely new routes and previously inaccessible course areas.

04

Optimise Your Routes

Once you have dashes and double jumps, revisit earlier courses. Faster runs mean your clone army earns more Watts per loop. IGTAP rewards route optimisation with exponentially better passive income.

05

Explore Hidden Areas

Look for secret bonus zones off the main path. IGTAP's Metroidvania elements hide bonus power nodes and shortcuts behind ability gates. Exploration multiplies your total Watt production ceiling.

06

Tackle Advanced Courses

Higher courses yield dramatically more Watts per completion. Master the Dash-Wall-Jump technique to access elevated sections. In IGTAP, the hardest courses offer the best incremental returns.

Advanced Tips for IGTAP

Optimise faster with these pro strategies.

Master the Dash-Wall-Jump

In IGTAP, dashing into a wall and immediately wall-jumping propels you straight upward — far higher than a normal wall jump. Essential for Course 5 and above.

Time, Not Kills

IGTAP's clone income is based on your recorded course time. A 3-second run yields far more passive Watts than a 30-second run — speed is money.

Check Shortcuts First

Before grinding a course, check if a new ability opened a shortcut. In IGTAP, shortcut routes can cut course time by 50–80%, transforming your idle income overnight.

The Dark Mode Upgrade Warning

IGTAP's final major upgrade resets course times and re-runs everything in near-darkness for a massive Watt multiplier. Save this for when you're confident in your routes.

Spike Polarity Awareness

Blue and red spikes in IGTAP are directional hazards. Only certain movement states let you pass over blue spikes — explore carefully to find the cave and jungle sections.

Reset Individual Course Times

Use the in-game reset option for individual courses to re-record a cleaner, faster run. Useful after unlocking new IGTAP abilities that enable better route splits.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About IGTAP

Everything players ask about the IGTAP incremental platformer, answered.

IGTAP stands for Incremental Game That's Also a Platformer. It's an indie game that fuses the passive income loop of incremental / idle clicker games with active 2D precision platforming. You run courses to earn Watts, spend them on clones that earn Watts passively, and unlock new movement abilities to access better courses and routes. IGTAP was developed by Varii @ PepperTangoGames and is available to play free online.
Yes — IGTAP has a free demo / web version playable directly in your browser on itch.io and Galaxy.click, with no download or account required. A full Steam version is also in development. The free version contains multiple courses, the clone system, and several upgrade tiers — typically offering around 50–60 minutes of content.
The developer estimates the current version takes approximately 50–60 minutes to beat for an average player. Speedrunners and route-optimisers can complete IGTAP significantly faster, while completionists hunting every hidden bonus zone and secret area will spend longer. The incremental nature also means you can leave the game idle and return later with a pile of Watts waiting.
Save functionality depends on the platform. The Steam demo supports full save files (the developer uses a replay system that stores significant data, making web-based saves tricky). The web/Galaxy version may not retain saves between sessions due to browser storage limitations. For persistent IGTAP progress, the Steam version is recommended.
Most incremental / idle clicker games are entirely passive — you click or wait and numbers go up. IGTAP adds an active skill layer: the better you platform, the faster your incremental income scales. Your actual platforming ability directly influences Watt production via time-based clone income. This makes IGTAP feel like a speedrunning incremental — a genre-hybrid that's genuinely rare.
When you complete a course in IGTAP, the game records your run. When you purchase clones, they replay your best recorded run on a loop, earning Watts passively. The income each clone generates is proportional to how fast your recorded run was — meaning speedrunning courses creates exponentially more passive income than slow runs. Buying more clones multiplies this passive output further.
The Dash-Wall-Jump is an advanced movement technique in IGTAP. Dash toward a wall, and the instant your dash touches the surface, execute a wall jump. Done correctly, you launch nearly straight upward — much higher than a standard wall jump. This technique is essential for accessing elevated areas in Course 5 and above, and enables several major course shortcuts.
IGTAP has light Metroidvania elements. The world is interconnected rather than entirely linear, and new movement abilities (dash, double jump, wall jump) literally open new paths and areas that were previously impassable. However, IGTAP's primary identity is as an incremental platformer — the Metroidvania exploration is a rewarding secondary layer rather than the main focus.
IGTAP is currently optimised for desktop browsers and Windows/Linux. The precision platforming mechanics — particularly wall jumps and dashes — require keyboard or controller input. Touch-screen mobile play is not officially supported and may result in a degraded experience. IGTAP is best played on a desktop or laptop with keyboard or gamepad.
IGTAP's final major upgrade resets all your recorded course times and forces you to re-run every course in near-darkness — a dramatic challenge mode. In return, Watt generation is massively multiplied. It's a high-stakes prestige-style mechanic: only attempt it once you're confident in your routes, as you'll need to re-earn your times in a much harder visual environment.
